When I create art, I make something that connects to me as a person, and something I hope other people can connect to. I don't have any long term goals in art, though it's something I enjoy it's not something I think I'll spend doing for the rest of my life. I don't plan to continue art after high school, but it something that I enjoy doing when the materials are given to me. My definition of art is creating something to connect with others, and to me it's a way of expressing myself. There aren't any specific artists that encourage me to do certain types of art, but this year I've learned that I prefer 2D much more than 3D. My favorite type of art to create is by using watercolor paints. I like how the watercolor looks on paper, and it's much more relaxing to do than sketching.
During a project, I often try many different things that interest me, and then look over them all and use whichever I like the best. I try many different techniques before using one permanently. My themes often have to do with something in my life, wether it's just my favorite colors, if it's related to gymnastics or music.
My work has grown this year because I pay more attention to detail in what I'm creating, and overall makes the art better. One of the most challenging things is that I've realized my art often doesn't end up how I wanted it to be, but I move on from it, and my art often looks even better than my original idea in the end. I feel that I have done a very good job with my art projects this year, and I really enjoyed making art.

Eda Erdik
A printmaking artist that I admire is Eda Erdik. Below is a print she created.
I like her artwork because it makes something simple, like a fish, look so detailed. Though most of her prints are just black and white, it doesn't take away from the quality of her artwork. It makes you focus on what the actual image is, rather than just what it looks like.
